Our survey shows that a greater proportion of patients using interferons believe that they are "very" or "moderately" effective than for non-interferon treatments. However, the difference is not that great, with 42% of interferon patients and 32% of non-interferon patients stating that their treatment was effective in controlling their MS. The proportion of patients who felt that their medicines were not effectively treating their MS was also similar for interferon and non-interferon compounds.

Many people are unsure just how well their medicines really work, with more than 30% of patients stating that they were uncertain of the effectiveness. Non-interferon treatments appear to be particular hard to judge, with almost 45% of people taking them being uncertain of their value.
